Bible team jerseysBy Darren RovellESPN.com The guys at Third Coast Sports, who have established an incredible niche for church marketing at sporting events, are at it again. Following up their act of Moses, Samson and Noah Bobblehead Night at a Nashville Sounds game, they've now taken uniforms to biblical proportions -- literally. On May 5, the Birmingham Steeldogs of the Arena Football League 2 will wear jerseys with Samson on the front for the team's game against the Louisville Fire. Specific bible chapter and verse references will be created by combining the names and numerals on the back of each player. For example, offensive specialist Kerry Wright wears No. 1, so on the back of his jersey it will say "Genesis" in reference to Genesis, Chapter 1. The reason the promotion is debuting in Birmingham is because the city is home to a company that makes Christian throwback jerseys. At the game, Christian recording artist Audio Adrenaline will perform and free bibles will be handed out. Third Coast has conducted over 40 Faith Nights at sports arenas and stadiums around the country. This year, Faith Nights will make their major league debut at Atlanta Braves and Arizona Diamondbacks games. |
