The AFL2 Birmingham Steeldogs take on the Louisville Fire on May 5. They will break out new jerseys with Biblical themes. On the front their jerseys will have SAMSON. Does that mean players won't be able to cut their hair the rest of the season?

Quarterback Ryan Hawk's name on the back of his No. 12 jersey will be James, referring to the book of James Chapter 1, Verse 2.

I'm not sure how many Biblical scholars attend AFL2 games on a regular basis, but the jerseys are the brainstorm of Cornell Jackson, owner of Christian Throwback Jersey Co.

The promotion is in conjunction with former Sounds executive Brent High, who started Faith Nights at Greer Stadium and is now president of Third Coast Sports.

Former MTSU stars Alvin Fite (FB/HB) and Kerry Wright (WR) are Steeldogs, as is former Tennessee kicker Alex Walls.
